The Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Program
14 -16 Years of Age
The goal of the CIT program is to prepare future community leaders by developing their skills in leadership, teamwork, and working with children in a dynamic camp environment. The program is divided into three sessions, each lasting two weeks. CITs go home on Friday afternoons and return the following Sunday for their second week. Throughout the program, participants learn a range of skills essential for working with today’s campers, including behavior management, emergency preparedness, and effective group participation.
During the first week, CITs are introduced to the fundamentals of working with children and gradually acclimated to camp life. They begin by participating in classes and assisting counselors with camper supervision.
The second week emphasizes planning and organizational skills. CITs select one of their enrolled classes and, with counselor support, plan and lead an activity on the final day of instruction, which gives them the opportunity to step into the role of counselor and apply what they have learned.
Internship Program for those that are at least 16 years of age and have completed our LIT and CIT Program may be available. This is an unpaid working position, please submit an employment application. We offer limited spaces for this position, apply early to be able to add this experience to your resume and college application!
Intern hours can be applied to fulfill community service hours.
